On November 16, 2024, in an action-packed game, the Georgia Bulldogs secured a pivotal 31-17 victory over Tennessee. Demonstrating Georgia’s resilience on offense and defense. Tennessee set the tone early, jumping to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter with a 1-yard touchdown by tight end Miles Kitselman and a 52-yard field goal by kicker Matthew Gilbert. But Georgia’s offense, led by quarterback Carson Beck, wasted no time responding. In the second quarter, Beck connected with tight end Oscar Delp twice, first with a 19-yard pass and then a 4-yard touchdown, pushing the Bulldogs into a temporary lead. Tennessee’s Dylan Sampson responded with an impressive 27-yard rushing touchdown, giving the Volunteers a narrow 17-14 advantage with just minutes left in the half. However, Georgia kicker Peyton Woodring kept the Bulldogs level, drilling a 36-yard field goal to bring the game to a 17-17 tie at halftime.

The second half was all Georgia, as both the offense and defense executed flawlessly. Beck scrambled for a 10-yard touchdown in the third quarter, demonstrating his adaptability and leadership on the field. Georgia’s defense applied pressure, shutting out Tennessee entirely in the second half. Key returning defensive players, including Smael Mondon and Warren Brinson, brought consistent pressure, limiting Tennessee’s ability to regain momentum. The defensive line forced critical turnovers and created challenges for Tennessee’s quarterback Nico Iamaleava, who struggled to find his rhythm under constant pressure.

In the fourth quarter, Georgia’s offense capitalized on their defensive stops. With under three minutes remaining, running back Nathaniel Frazier surged through Tennessee’s defensive line for a 2-yard touchdown, extending Georgia’s lead to 31-17. Shortly afterward, the Bulldogs’ defense clinched the game, with Chaz Chambliss recovering a fumble on Tennessee’s final drive. This final turnover symbolized Georgia’s control over the game, sealing the victory in the closing minutes.

This win not only improves Georgia’s standing in the SEC but also demonstrates the Bulldogs’ well-rounded skill set and strong coaching. Beck’s leadership under pressure, combined with the offense’s explosive playmaking and the defense’s ability to adapt and shut down Tennessee’s scoring, leaves Georgia well-positioned for the remainder of the season.
